Concept of CBEWS

A Community-Based Early Warning System (CBEWS) is a system that actively involves communities in identifying, monitoring, and responding to early signs of violent extremism. It is an inclusive approach where the community plays a critical role in the prevention of extremism by staying vigilant and working with other actors such as governments and civil society.

Purpose:
The main goal of CBEWS is to prevent violent extremism by detecting early warning signs in the community. These warning signs may include increased radical rhetoric, behavioral changes in individuals or groups, or the emergence of extremist propaganda. By identifying and addressing these signs early, communities can prevent the escalation of violence.
