Joint Monitoring and Support Programs

Governments often rely on surveillance and law enforcement mechanisms to monitor former extremist/inmates after their release. However, for effective reintegration, psychological, economic, and social support are also necessary. CSOs collaborate with government agencies, such as the Prison Department and the Royal Malaysia Police, to provide a more holistic support system for former extremist/inmates.

Collaborative Case Management

CSOs and government agencies work together in managing the reintegration of former extremist/inmates. This involves sharing information, co-developing rehabilitation plans, and conducting regular follow-ups. The aim is to ensure that former extremist/inmates are progressing in their reintegration journey, and any red flags are identified early on to prevent re-radicalization.

Government-CSOs Training Programs

CSOs could provide training for government personnels, including law enforcers, to help them better understand the reintegration process from a social and psychological perspective. This includes educating government officials on trauma-informed care and the need for a community centered approach.

Collating Resources for Comprehensive Services

Collaboration allows CSOs and government bodies to collate financial and human resources. This is especially important for providing services such as transitional housing, mental health counseling, and vocational training, which may not be fully funded by government budgets.
