Building Trust through Engagement

A crucial part of reintegration is the creation of trust between former terrorist inmates and their communities. This trust-building process has been successful in Poso through community projects, sports activities, and interfaith dialogues.

Community Projects and Trust Building

One of the most effective ways to rebuild trust is by working together on community projects. Former terrorist inmates in Poso have participated in village development projects, which helped them show their willingness to contribute positively. Udin was involved in building a chicken farm in Desa Lape. By working alongside other community members, he was able to gradually rebuild their trust.

Interfaith Dialogues and Sports

Sports activities and interfaith dialogues are practical ways to bring former terrorist inmates and community members together in a neutral space, allowing them to interact in non-threatening ways. Youth in Poso often participated in football matches with former terrorist inmates creating bonds of friendship and understanding, despite past conflicts.
