Course Overview

This Course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of community-based approaches to preventing and countering violent extremism (PCVE) in Southeast Asia. The course covers critical modules, including the definition of violent extremism within the local Southeast Asian context, the role of community-based early warning systems (CBEWS), and community-based rehabilitation and reintegration (CBRR). Key modules include case studies from Indonesia, focusing on community engagement and psychosocial support, as well as examples from the Philippines and Malaysia highlighting cultural healing interventions, women's roles in reintegration, and the vital role of civil society organizations (CSOs).
